A native New Yorker, Dr. Young moved to San Diego in 1990 after joining the US Navy. Dr. Young’s initial interest was in pediatrics, however during her Naval service as a ship’s doctor she discovered she really enjoyed the challenges of family practice. She has been a physician since 1991.
Positive Connections
Dr. Young has been married to fellow doctor, Thomas Young, MD Cardiology for almost 3 decades. Their two grown daughters live nearby in San Diego. Their strong family foundation has guided Dr. Young in becoming an empathetic provider. “I feel privileged that my patients trust me with their health concerns,” she says. Dr. Young makes it a point to take the time to engage in conversations with her patients and express a genuine interest in their lives.
Let Food Be Your Medicine
One of Dr. Young’s hobbies outside of the office is exploring exciting food experiences. That said, she is an advocate for healthy diets for her patients. “I love to cook for my family and friends,” she says.
The Importance Of Emphathy
“I love when a patient tells me that they feel so much better after they have spent time with me, even if we don’t have a solution for their concern at the time,” Dr. Young says. Her approach to wellness encompasses the whole patient with genuine concern, personal attention, and devoted care. She believes in the idea that a good physician treats the disease, while the great physician treats the patient who has the disease. With her honest, caring nature, Dr. Young remains an ever-curious doctor, learning the best ways to help her patients.
